Line6 POD is it a good deal?

Hey guys!

I just was at my local guitar shop and they had POD ( I think it was 2.0, what if it was just the normal one?) used for $ 189. Is this a good price? I mean is it worth it? I have a Boss ME-30 and after I heard what you can do with the POD I was thinking: wow. Cool. That's fun . So I was wondering if I should sell my Boss and get the POD. But then I would lose a lot of effects and I need my Wah . So what do you guys think? Should I do it?

You won't lose your wah if you eventually plan on buying the floorboard, which IMHO is a necessity if you're going to use any of Line 6's stuff.

Yes, $189 is a great price for a ver 2.0 - but make sure - you can buy a Ver 1 for under $150 and then buy an upgrade chip for about $30.

Okay, I double checked and it's the POD 2.0. I think I'll get it tomorrow. At least I just put up my Boss ME-30 for sale on e(vil)-Bay. I hope it will sell for at least $ 100. Well one can hope, can't he ; ). I heard some soundsamples which made me wanna buy it. I like the idea of recrding songs with a great tone and downloading patches for it. I guess I'll have a new toy tomorrow

Still waiting for some opinions though...I'll get the floorboard eventually because at that price I don't think it's included...

I have the Flextone II (POD with a speaker) and it sounds very very very cool. And no, the floorboard is not included, it's another $200-250 US. (I know, cuz it's $400 CAD)

I use a normal wah anyway with a pod, I think it sounds way better.

Okay, I got it! I still have to get behind all those amps and play with them but, hey I got 2 weeks off . But the thing that really bugs is that my girl-friend now somehow is a little p***-off. I mean, it's my money, not hers. I'm not making any kind of debt, I'm always in plus, yet somehow she is not fond of that. I mean, I'm a kinda guy who when he wants something he has to get it at once. I'm guilty of that. Okay. But still, I wouldn't have bought it if it was too expensive or anything. I just thought, the time was right, I wanted that thing and I had the money, so why not. BUt try to explain that to my girlfriend... . Anyone else have these kinds of problems? I mean I'm old enough to make my own decisions and mistakes... The thing is, it's not just stuff like this but also DVD's or cd's. She always has something against me buying it... I'm pissed off. Now you have it.

I disagree with you guys. The floorboard is not a necessity. I don't gig live. I only record at home. Therefore, if I need to switch the sound in the middle of a song, I hit the stop button, change the channel and hit record again. The floorboard will run you around $200. Why get that when you can get a good wah for way less and put it in line with the POD?

Now if you are gigging, then, yeah by all means get the floorboard as it makes switching between channels easier. Otherwise, I'd say it's a waste of money.

In my case, with the Flextone II, you only get four channels, with the floorboard added, you get 30. As well as volume pedal, on/off switching of effects (stomp box style) and tuner. And, some of us gig either a little or a lot, and the others (like myself) like to get as close to gigging setup as possible, in case they do some day.

There are far too many advantages to owning the floor board, so I also have to disagree with l8r g8r. Whether you are gigging or playing in the bedroom, the FB opens you up to so many more options.

You can buy one used for $150 and use the other $50 to get yourself a wah, if the L6 wah is too weak for you.

Okay, I have to say this thing is really amazing. It's so cool having over 30 amps at your fingertips . And I think the effects aren't that bad either. I'm definetily gonna get the Floor-Board. We'll see about the wah. I think it's gonna be good enough for me... Now I just need a midi-cable....
