Line6 PODXTLive into tube amp or Vetta II?

Does/has anyone run a PODXTLive into a tube amp and what is your opinion of the sound? I think the Vetta II is cool but since the XTLive has most of the same effects, etc. I wonder if it would sound much better plugged into say a clean channel on a good tube amp vs the solid state amp in the Vetta II. I do like the stereo effect with different sounds on each side with the Vetta II though.

I haven't played many tube amps yet but I like the Peavey JSX for tone (played a JEM7VWH through it). I didn't care as much for the Mesa Dual Rectifier Solo Head with the JEM. And I can get the JSX head for $900.

i do something similar,

I have a Marshall JCM2000 DSL 100, i have a Behringer VAMP Pro, and a Boss GT6, I use them both (not at the same time) but i run them into the effect loop return for amazing results. I bypass the preamp in the head (not plugging into the clean chan) but yea, this method sounds great

id go with the XT live into a tube amp. i belive the modeled tones of the tube amp will sound more authentic and fuller. also even though you miss out on a couple of things, the XTlive with all the model packs is quite a bit cheaper than a vetta II. plus if needed to you can carry just the XT live to a gig and plug it in through a PA. and you'd also have a kick ass tube amp on the side!

Re: Line6 PODXTLive into tube amp or Vetta II?

Thanks for the feedback folks.

JimmyJ: I hadn't thought about bypassing the preamp and going in the return. Sounds like a great idea.

Dylan: You nailed my logic. The VettaII is a vanilla solid state amp with XTlive capabilities (without the pedalboard though) and fancier knobs/displays on it. And since the VettaII is $1700 and the XTlive is $400, that would leave me with $1300 for a combo tube amp or head/cabinet. And that way I have two things that can be used independently and I can also use the XTlive with the computer, etc.

patricia: I like your "it's not that bad" ;-) sounds like you are yearning for better sound still - as we all seem to do. I've heard the output mode is key to getting a good sound with your rig. I've also heard good things about the Nomads but I've never seen one in a store to try.

hi gu1tar,
yeah,i alway`s try to look for the best sound.
even my a woman on guitar....is still lookin`for better sounds.
but.......how far can i go? pretty far i asume ey?
oh well, the mesa boogie nomad is absolutly a killer amp.
you wanna play jazz?? he can handle it
maybe wanna play blues? no problem!!
wanna do vai? or even heavier stuff?
the nomad is capable!
only the tone-control (active control) is little difficult for me.
when pushing the middle you cutting the high and more of that things.
hahahha no wonder they called it a NOMAD....always on the road for a different sound.
btw,...i`ve tryed the new g-system from tc-electronics........wooooow!!!!

Patricia,

Do you like the g-system better than the XTlive? It seems to have less capabilities and costs way more. Or have you just gone pedal happy?

Re: Line6 PODXTLive into tube amp or Vetta II?

I am a proud Pod XTLive user. I love it. It works great in front of an amp and has a whole slew of factory patches with no amp modeling so you can use your amp's sound with effects or put the amp on clean and use the amp modeling. Here's something to help. http://www.thestompbox.net/Home/View...x?ArticleID=21 Joshua
