Looking for a Delay Pedal - Any suggestions?
I think I'll buy a
Delay pedal
this month, but I can't choose one. I have tested Boss DD-3 and DD-5 and I think DD-3 is a good one.
Does anyone here has a suggestion?? Thanks!

Don't think you can go wrong with either of those. *A lot of guys lately are preferring older analog delay like the DM-2 or DM-3, but those have much less dealy time and are getting pricey used.

I have played through a DM-3 once. It's a good delay but, as you said, they're *overpriced. That's why I started looking for Digital ones. Do the analog delays sound too differently from digitals? I could never compare them side by side...

The DD-3/5 are pretty good. *I really like my TC Electronics D-Two, although it's kinda pricey for just delay ($400-$500). *
If you can get a used Boss one, you should be alright.

I can get any
Boss pedal
in a store nearby so, if I can't find anything else, I'll probaly buy a DD-3/5. Do you have any not-so-expansive suggestions, besides Boss?

Honestly... if you want to stick to around $100... BOSS will be your best bet. *The DD-3/5 seems to have the most prominant delay as far as pedals go... many other
delay pedals
seem to get lost in the mix... (IE - Vai's delay... terrible). *A lot of the other pedal form delays seem to be rather poorly made. *I would try the BOSS for now, and if you are looking for some serious delay... save up for a good rack unit.

Thanks! A rack unit is too much for me... I think BOSS will do the job!

Looking for a Delay Pedal
There is a fundamental difference in analog and digital delays. *First you should know which kind you want. *I owned a Boss DM-3 Analog Delay and the warmth echo it created was amazing. *The digital delays are more sterile but give a crisper, less muddy repeat of your sound. *What kind of delay are you going for, and what are you using it for? *The
Boss pedals
are ok, but if you are looking for a pretty nice delay, I don't think I would recommend those. *Most of the good digital delays are rackmount. *This doesn't mean that they are all very expensive though.

Looking for a Delay Pedal
Another note. *I have used the Boss DD pedals you are talking about numerous times. *While the actual delay sound isn't too bad, it's kinda weird using a pedal for digital delay. *It makes it really hard to adjust how much delay you want, the delay time, etc. *The options just aren't there for on-the-fly changes. *You would actually have to get several pedals to have "preset" delay settings. *I would suggest an analog delay or a rackmount digital.

Looking for a Delay Pedal
if you want more pricyness on the pedal...go for a Line 6 delay thingy. Sounds pretty awsome, and you have almost every delay setting you can get. but it's about 2-300 so that's if the money isn't an issue. Other than that the Boss pedals kick @ss!

Looking for a Delay Pedal
I agree with everyone else so far.I have a DD-3 and it's really good but over the past year it's been just back up because I've grown really fond of my Danelectro Dan-Echo.The Dan-Echo is digital but it's warmer sounding than a DD-3.I also have a D-TWO and I love it.It's very transparent and has so many possiblities combined with a great price that it hurts. Also the Line 6 delay modeling pedal is great because you get something like 16 models that really sound good.If you don't mind spending the $200+ for it that's what I would recommend.Otherwise the Boss pedals should do the trick.Have fun buying!

Yes, big difference. *If you want an analog sound at a cheap price, try an Ibanez EM5 Echomachine. *Cheaply made, but sounds a lot like analog.

Looking for a Delay Pedal
I have the new Ibanez Tone-Lok (DE-7?) and it's great! *It does just about everything your "bare bones" Boss pedal will do and it only cost me $75. *If you're looking for a great delay pedal w/out all the extra gadgetry of the higher end Boss pedals, give the Ibanez Tone-Lok a shot.

Looking for a Delay Pedal
The only problem with the Boss pedals is that they don't like Line Levels. *If you want to use it in your effects loop make sure you can set the output level of your loop. *

Thank you all for giving ideas! As I've noticed that you guys play through many different delay pedals/racks, I think I'll go to a store nearby and try 'em all. Then I think I'll be able to choose a good one for me!
