Looking for amp with direct out

Im looking got an amp that has direct out. Something that will plug right into my 8track recorder. The guys at the local guitar center looked lost when I asked them whet that had. Basiclly I'd like something in a 1x12, doesnt need a lot of power. Doesnt need to have effects but wouldnt hurt. Just a clean and a distortion channel is good for me. What can you recommend? Looking to spend in the $250 (us) range if possible. Thanks for the help!

try a roland cube30x. Its $250, 30watts, with a 10" speaker. its a modeling amp so you can get several different amp models from fender twin, to plexi, to mesa boogie. the effects include chorus, flanger, phaser and tremolo. also has an acoustic guitar simulator thats not too bad. sounds like a tinny piezo pickup. ha ha. worth lookin into....

Re: Looking for amp with direct out

forgot to mention that the salesguy tried to sell me on it twice but i blew it off. it looks like a cheap practice amp, but really its a VERY nice modeling amplifier. In its price range you will find a spyder 3 (i think) and a peavey vypyr. both modeling amps and both inferior to the Roland. i tried em all back to back and the roland spanked em. look for it on youtube or something if you have time.

It's a little more than $250 brand new, but the Peavey Windsor might be worth looking at depending on the type of tone you're interested in. It doesn't do the modelling or effects or multiple channels, but it's a tube amp with a 12 in speaker and a direct out for recording that's gotten reasonably good reviews.
That said, I'd look at something like the cube or a modeller for strictly home recording applications.

Re: Looking for amp with direct out

I've got a Marshall AVT20 that has a DI out that I use for basic recording into a M-Audio Fast-track.

Does the trick, but it's a pretty basic amp. no modeling or anything else. So if you're after effects, look elsewhere. If you're just looking for a straight Marshall tone, it's a great little amp, and the Loud Speaker out let's me run it through a 4X12 and it gets quite loud. Could be used bot for practice or small gigs.
