Looking for gig amp recommendation
After purchasing an Ibanez SV5470F I've come to the conclusion that a new amp is in order.
Playing mainly Death Metal.
Recommendations/reviews would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Looking for gig amp recommendation
I've seen a lot of DM guitarist using Marshall 800's,
Mesa Dual
&
Triple Recto
's, Peavy Triple X, and Marshall 8100. The last is solid state but the contour knob dials in some nice saturated DM sounds.

Thanks for the responses.
You can hear a sample of the music that my son and his friends in Fatal Flaw play at

Re: Looking for gig amp recommendation
That's not Death Metal.
Sounds good for what they're doing, I guess. I'm hearing Mesa Boogie rectifier series heads & cabs or something the less expensive like Kustom or
Marshall Valvestate
series. Everyone will chime in with there list but it really comes down to your budget, personal taste and transportation issues.

Personally, I'm a fan of Peavey. So I'm going to be biased and say either a XXX or a 5150

Given that they've only been playing for a little over a year, I'd say they're doing pretty well. Anyway, I said it was only a sample and certainly not professionally produced.
Thanks again

That's probably the most important thing you could have told us
I'd suggest setting a budget and letting your son choose for himself, only he will know where he wants to take his music. Just tell him to remember that he has to be able to transport the amp around
Personally I've found that a 2x12 combo is usually plenty big enough for small gigs and the Peavy 5150 has some great high gain sounds available. It's also important to look at whether he wants to use lots of different sounds from a multi effects unit something like a Pod system etc then you need to split the budget between what makes it sound good and what makes it sound loud
