Low wattage and high gain - its nearly here!

Just checking out the Intermusic forums and it appears tipton amplification are bringing out a low wattage high gain amplifier called "slasher". It will be available through arrowhead guitars, I cant wait to get my hands on one
It will be 6 watt switchable to 2.5watt - perfect!

I forgot to add - They are only in the prototype stage at the moment but should be available by music live.

Sounds like Marshall. EVH from the early days. I'd say the guy was trying to play Eruption. If it really is only 6 watts--I'm sold!

6 watts still suprizingly loud, that is louder than a trumpet! Its getting better but its still not perfect! If you are having late night session it woudn't please the neighbours 1/2 watt is the best you could get IMO, perfect for practicing late. But I suppose you could run an attenuator through one to get down to lower levels but then you would run the risk of a "dull" sound from the limited voice coil movement in the speaker.

Well, a trumpet still needs to be mic'd to play with a loud band, which is about idead gigging volume, IMO.

Anyway, I currently practice with a 45-watt amp with the volume down quite a bit- it still sounds good, but it'd be better if i could push the poweramp a little. Drop from 45 to 6 watts, and I could be playing on 3 or 4 at sane "house" levels, instead of 1.

and Arrowhead guitars are nice people, I was talking to their owner at the london guitar show for quite a while. They make some really nice customs aswell.

The ZVEX Nano Head is cool...only 1.2 watt.

Ben Fargen made a "Bastage" on a limited basis for some guys on another site. 4 watts, some with attenuation of 1/3 and 2/3 reduction.
