Marshall 1960 4x12
So I just managed to find a Marshall 1960 4x12
slant cab
[black tolex, silver grille (or maybe a grey one judging by the pictures, possibly black..???)]. ANYWAYS, just wondering if it's a good buy. It's almost brand new with the exception of small tolex rips on the bottom and the back of the cab and a tiny rip, no bigger than a dime, on the cloth. It's going for $350. I'm thinking I return the Line 6 cab, get some extra cash, and buy it. But I need your expert opinions on whether this is a good deal or not?
And just out of the blue, what are your thoughts on a Crate G412SL cabinet?

I have the Marshall with Celestion Greenbacks and it rocks! Very nice, and of course, it is just the classic cabinet!

I played through a 1960A and it ripped. If I didn't get my Legacy 2x12 I would have gotten it. You should check out the Legacy 4x12's, they can be had for around the same price.

Re: Marshall 1960 4x12
these days $350 for a 1960A cab is a good deal, if it's in decent shape and make sure it has real Celestions inside. Would be a good idea to pull the back off before you buy it.

Re: Marshall 1960 4x12
Yeah, that's a decent deal. It should have the Celestion G12-75T speakers in it. They are ok. More at the bottom end of the Celestion line. It's what I use. They are ok, but a little bit brittle/midrangey. Decent cabinet though. Down the line, you could swap out the speakers. Typically, the speakers sell for $50 each (used). So, if you figure that you paid $150 for the cabinet itself, that's still a good price

Re: Marshall 1960 4x12
I wouldn't say G12T-75's are "at the bottom of the Celestion line". They make those Rocket 50's and another $29 one I just saw in the new Guitar Center mailer, plus they have other cheaper speakers. The G12T-75 is a fine speaker.
