Marshall 1960TV problem.....Impedence question

I am currently running a JCM 800 2204 at 8 ohms through a 1960TV that runs at 16 ohms. What are the complications of this? Everything sounds fine but I am worried that I may be damaging the speakers....are there any products that could convert 8 ohms to 16 ohms (or vice-versa?). Thanks for the input!

Their are things to note when mismatching like that but the important thing is you wont hurt anything by doing it. I typicaly match my amp and cab because the tone is better when its matched. But if you have no choice then Ill tell you that it is done everyday. You can always rewire the cab for 8 ohms also.

So would rewiring the cab for 8 ohms change the tone any? Maybe I can figure out a way to do something to the head to get it running at 16 ohms.... I know it probably isn't that big of a deal but this whole mis-match thing is really bothering me.....

running 8ohm outs from your amp to 16ohm impedence cabinet is not going ot hurt anything. It simply lowers your volume.IF you plug into a 4 ohm cabinet, you will screw up your amp because your amp needs to see a minimum impedemnce of 8 ohms.

You will also lose some high end when running into a cabinet that has higher impedence than the optimal rating of your amp

I was looking into some THD products to see if I could do anything to correct this...no luck. Is there a link to a good site that anyone could give me? I think I am going to try and rewire my cab to match the 8 ohm head (seems the easiest).

To answer your question, having a cab thats 8 ohms and one thats 16 doesnt mean thiers any difference in tone. The thing that will change the tone is the different way youll have to wire it to get 8 ohms. See what Im saying? You could keep the current wiring and get speakers of a different impedance to get it to 8 ohms. That wouldnt sound different but changing between series, parallel, or series-parallel wirings changes the tone.
