Marshall JCM800 2230 to a Fender 65 Reverb Deluxe

I have an original 80s Marshall JCM 800, 2203, 100 Watt Head. It's a great amp and in excellent condition however I hardly, if ever play it.

I also own a JCM900 (which I use a lot more frequently), a Laney LC30II combo and a Blackstar HT-5R which is my main player.

What I don't have is a great clean amp in a combo. I am thinking of going down to a local store and doing a swap of the 800 head for a Fender 65 Reverb Deluxe. I am not after an original, would be happy with a reissue.

Do you think this would be a fair trade? Would I have to outlay some cash or would the shop be more likely to be giving me some money back?

It is hard to get a good reading on used prices for the 800 series. As always it depends on how much a buyer wants it. The shop that I am looking to take it to has a used one for 2600ish which I think is over the top in terms of price (and mine has the vertical inputs which from my understanding is more desirable).

JCM800 2203s are one of the most popular amps Marshall ever made. My used 2210s cost me roughly $1200 each and they are less suoght after than 2203s. Frankly, trading the 900 for a used DRRI would make more sense in terms of value.

A used vintage 60s BF Super Reverb in similar condition to your 800 would be the better trade choice IMO.

Thanks pjuels. The problem is, I just don't use the 800 and I feel it is a waste. It does sound amazing, it's just that I like the Reverb on the 900, which the 800 doesn't have. And it is very loud!

It weights a tonne, so by the time you got it to the States it would most likely not be worth it for you .

Not to mention the power supply issues. You'd need to pull the transformer and replace it with a 110V one for use in the US.

Nah, really, the 800 is a holy grail for many people. You will have no trouble getting rid of it or trading it for almost anything (that isn't boutique, like a dumbledore).
