Marshall Valvestate 80/80?

Hi! A guy is offering me this little amp for 100$. Im in need of a practise amp to use at home and a small amp to use at small gigs where i cant bring my rig. Is this amp going to work? How does it sound?
Thanks!

100 USD is a good price for that, I think. They sell for almost double that on E-bay if they're in good condition. What preamp are you going to use with the Marshall if you buy it?

dude i have the 8280 (mine has a stereo amp and stereo chorus)

and i love this amp, it kicks ass for a ss combo, way loud enough for band prac when i cant have my stack, it works great, sounds great and is portable...

better still its a marshall and mine was cheap toO!

I used to have one back when they were new. They're a bit fizzy but other than that great. They have an ECC83 pre-amp valve to help with tone.

I like the 80/80 a lot. Haven't played through one for years but I remember it being a very good amp. $100 is a good price!

Ok... the general impression seems to be ok. I think i'll go over to his place and buy it. You can't do anything better for 100$ anyway.

Wait a minute, we are talking about the Marshall 80/80 rackmount stereo power amp, right? If so, the rack amp doesn't take tubes, and you need to run a preamp with it. Or is this an entirely different amp, like a Marshall combo?
