marshall's new amps

so i just got off the phone with my buddy who works for sales and marketing at gc

he went to try out at a distributer convention the two new amplifiers of the signature series the kerry king model and the rr model

he said in the showroom at marshalls distribution center - he said it was amazing, he brought his custom jackson, plugged it up and wam bam he said it screamed

this raggy old prototype the kerry has been using for 5 yers now....the circuit he said was like a old jcm800 trippled in tone and gain

he also heard the rr, but was NOT impressed at all

next thing he told me, they got a shippment of kk models
and he sai he plugged his guitar right up to it and it was the worst sounding amp ever

i guess another 3k amp with a endorsement contract....does kerry king actually care what his name is put on...wow
i wonder how much hes making off this deal

its sad, if you going to buy a kerry king endorsed amp, wouldnd you want it to be identical to his amp??

Happy with my JVM410--how can you not be happy with a 12-channel amp? I thought I had found Nirvana with the H & K Triamp MK II (which is still dang close) but 12, well, that's more than 6 now isn't it?....

I've been a JCM 900 man for 3 years - every gig - and just went to DSL 100 heads with same 1960A/B cabs. DSL's RULE.

yeah i wanted a dsl50 but was told they were discontinued. now i hear they are back on the market again? seems kinda redundant with the jvm210, but i have yet to try out the 210. 100w is a little too much headroom for me, but 50 is just right.

oh, and i heard a youtube vid of the randy rhoads model and it sounded amazing. very throaty with superb clarity. i would not pay the price they are asking for any of those signature models though, it's kinda ridiculous when you could easily get a boutique head for a similar price.

Re: marshall's new amps

The DSL series have a very clean signal path with only one circuit board. Very similar to the old 800's.

TSL's have 3 boards and about a mile of circuitry- which creates a decayed signal by the time it leaves for the speakers. Some love that tone....

The new VM is supposed to be great, although I've only played it in the store and haven't taken her on a gig for a real test yet.

Re: marshall's new amps

I use a DSL 50. I'm more than happy with it. Nice clean channel, as well as a good gain channel.

Still hoping to get a Mesa Boogie Mark IV though.
