Mesa/Boogie cabs

Does anyone have any experience with rectifier cabinets?

I'm looking at getting the 2x12 to complement my Hughes and Kettner Edition Tube 20th (EL84 power/12ax7 pre). I just really want a cab with v30's in it. The reviews on Harmony Central seem to think it's pretty good, but I think I'd trust a Jemsite opinion more

they are solid. our lead guitar player swears by them. we havent had any problems with his at all. Im looking at either a marshall, mesa, or framus for my new cab.

Re: Mesa/Boogie cabs

i've got a 2x12 dual rec cab.
i bought it to go under my tremoverb 2x12 combo to make give me a 4x12 set up.
the 2 x12 cab is nearly as heavy as the 2x12 combo!
it's a really solid, well made cab and mine came with a half back option so i can swap between a closed back cab or closed.
it has a surprisingly massive sound for a 2x12. It's very deep compared to marshall 2x12s.
really good but very heavy - a cab for life.
i also use it with my cornford rk100 head when i can't be bothered to carry the cornford 4x12.

i'd recommend one.

Cabs solid, one of the nicest out there. Especially the 2x12, very whole sounding. 4x12 are great too, built like tanks. I use a rect 2x12 with v30s.

If I did upgrade it would be to a Bad Cat 4x12. I am just at my Bad Cat stage now so ignore that.

Re: Mesa/Boogie cabs

Very nice cabs IMHO. My local dealer has a NOS Roadster 2x12 cab for $440 (normally around $579) that I'm fighting throwing money at right now. I don't really need it but I REALLY want it

If I had my way, I'd like a vertical version and a nice 4x12 for those occaisional big stage gigs. I already own one of the older vertical 2x12 cabs with the half back design and two different speakers - those are MONSTER cabs.

Here's a shot of mine:

I have a Halfcab as well with a Black Shadow and ELectrovoice Speaker. This thing screams. It's louder and more punchy than my 4x12. I definitely recommend the half cab series if you can find one. I haven't tryed any new Mesa cabs so I can't really be of any other help. Good luck.

The half backs really rock, not sure why they stopped making them? With two different voiced speakers and the difference in sound you get from the top open and botom closed back design, I haven't tried any other cabs even close to the range of sound in a 2x12 configuration.

I'd love a 4x12 version of this cab. I see them pop up for sale from time to time but shipping would kill the deal.

I got lucky on mine when a buddy got behind on his mortgage and since he NEVER used the cab (older blues player) so he sold it to me in mint shape for $300 . I picked up the Mark series 100wtt head the following year that fit perfectly on the cab, just a lucky coincedance to end up with such nice pieces of gear.

Same here haha. I had a Mark III head first and sought out the cab after I saw YOUR picture (I believe) in a thread.

Re: Mesa/Boogie cabs

just to add. i have a mark iv head with 2 mesa 1x12s: a 1/2 back widebody and a 3/4 back. And they hold up just fine volume wise against the other guitar player who has an orange rockerverb 50 and a bogner 4x12. I actually prefer the sound of the open back smaller cabs to the flubby low end of a 4x12.

Re: Mesa/Boogie cabs

I used to have a 2x12 rectifier cabinet.
It was solid, looked good, and sound okay. My major issue with it, was that it did not have enough low end. My main cab is a mesa 4x12 road ready cab, and I was looking for something for smaller gigs, but it just could not cut it. my .02

Too funny!. I figure no matter how you get tipped off to something, as long as you find what works.

Not familiar with the B-52 cabs.
