Mesa/Boogie *Mark IV queston... - How to get more chunka chu

Hi!
This is my first post here...
You see I got an mark iv head, and itīs great...
Though one thing im missing some times is a heavy
chunka metal...I read some post around here
that someone used a boss ds-1 pedal for rhythm?
what kinda sound do you get it? what other pedals
will work with it?

Many thanks in advance...

LOL!
Im glad to see my chunka chunka is starting to go around.
I posted the previous info you refer to.
The DS-1 has a real meaty sound, and more bottom end to it without the flub, but it's still not a real chunka chunka maker.
I bought a Rocktron Artist hoping that it would do the chunk sound for me, but I hate the tone, so no dice there. *Back to square one.
I found that on the Mark IV, using the full power, and on the back using the Pentode help. *I leave it on harmonics rather than mid-boost though for soloing reasons. *The mid boost according to the manual will help with more of a "searing metal sound"
I guess I'll have to break down and actually get a TriAxis now. I hoped to get out cheaper, but for that real Dual Rec sound Im looking for, there will be no other way.

You could try running your amp with a little less distortion that normal, and using a DS-1 or a Tubescreamer or some other pedal as a boost. That's how Vai runs his Legacy's.
