Mesa Boogie Nomad & using effects pedals or pedalboards

Hi all

Just bought a Mesa Nomad 100 1x12. Great amp, nice tones..

BUT !!

as far as the distortion channels goes, its not metal.... Hard rock at best...

I have a Digitech RP5 pedal board effects unit. Has heaps of effects, that are nice... Flanger, Chorus, phaser, whammy, harmonizer types, reverbs, etc... I can either hook it up in front of the line in and just use clean channel, so I can take advantage of the Digitech or I can use the effect loop at the back of the amp..

Or should I ditch the Digitech and go for seperate pedals..

never owned a valve amp before and not even sure if I can add distortion effect to an already dirty channel..

Any suggestions would help...

I am sure that if you put an overdrive in front of the dirty channel (which you say that goes for hard rock at best) you could to some higher gain stuff. Digitech has a overdrive patch or simulation right?

Yep Digitech actually sounds quite nice through the amp and has heaps of distortions and cab emulations etc...

Guess more experimentation is needed on my part...

Cheers !!

any more suggestions would be great.

Im am not apposed to ditching the digitech and buying a whole range of pedals, or even a GNX4 or boss gt10...

id love to know how others setup their valve amps effects etc...
