Mesa Boogie Rectifier

At the moment I'm mainly running a pretty simple setup (25 watts, solid state) because I just practice and mess around with my friends band. But I'm looking to go over a better amp that gives me the sound I'm looking for.

Flat out, I love the Rectifier series. I wanted to go for the Triple Rectifier, because a friend has one, but it is just way too loud for anything I'd use it for (practice, recording, occasionally messing around), and it's pretty big waste of always keeping it at a really low volume. So I looked into like a Dual Rectifier, because you know, less power.

That's when I ran into this:
http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_In...ctoPreAmp.html

Essentially, they say it is a Dual Rectifier. But it's smaller, rack mountable, and would be a real plus for recording. They also say you can hook it up to a power amp.

My question basically is, has anyone ever dealt with this preamp before? Does it actually sound like the Rectifier directly recording, running into a power amp? Another question is how much does it cost, and where would I be able to find/buy one? I assume it is definately over $1,000 but under $2,000. I find it really interesting, but I don't see a lot out there about it.

Thanks for the help!

Re: Mesa Boogie Rectifier

I have a Single that I absolutely love (in the form of a Rect-O-Verb). I picked it up for $600.00.

I switched-out the 6L6GC tubes with EL34 tubes.

I practice at low volumes and the amp sounds real good. I don't think it's a waste of power.

It really comes alive when get a chance to crank it! I hook-up my 2x12 recto cab too!

All the guys I jam with have PODs, and beleive me, they sound _nothing_ like a real tube amp.

The piece you're talking about is the pre-amp section of a rectifier. You get all of the sounds of the built-in distortion in stereo. It also adds the line-level outputs for recording.

I think it lists for $1100.00 USD.
