Mesa Boogie Recto Recording PreAmp - samples

Edited:
Hi guys! I really need your help!

I want to ask everyone with Mesa Boogie Recto Recording PreAmp for some direct recorded Samples of the second channel with max gain and to hear the 3 modes RAW, Vintage and Modern.

I need to know what solo sound can I get from the Mesa and how much gain it can produce.

I will be really thankful!!!!!!!!!

Warm Regards
Dimitar

I don't have any clips, but I had one in my rack for a while. I didn't think the direct recording feature was particularly good.

It's an excellent preamp for normal use (ie into a poweramp), provided you like the Recto tone, but as a direct recording unit...I wouldn't recommend it much.

Search 'Cesar Huesca' on youtube. He records all his clips with the Recto preamp.

Dimitar, I don't have this preamp, but you might want to use something other than RAR for your impulse files. RAR is not very popular around here. Just use the regular Windows zip.

This is not my experience with this unit at all. I used it extensively for a hear and a half as part of my live rig and recording set up. Live it was going into a VHT 2150, and for recording it was going through the board, all eq bypassed, into the interface. It sounded great live, but I think it was great for recording. I own a triple rec. and miced vs the pre amp there was very little difference, minus the noise of the triple of course . Not to say its EXACTLY the same, but for backing tracks, or sessions when the guitar is not the focal point, or for when you just can not mic something, its great! The only reason I got rid of mine, was that I did not use for my live rig anymore, and the pocket pod was good enough for bashing out ideas, that and I could not afford to have such a high ticket item at the time

I have some clips somewhere that I could send you. Mostly just commericals or me goofing off, nothing too serious. Lemme know, Tobe

Re: Mesa Boogie Recto Recording PreAmp - samples

I'll freely admit that I've never played a Recto Recording Pre, but my experience with a Rectoverb combo is that the Rectifier is really one of those amps that excels because of its poweramp, not it's pre. At very low volumes, it's everything recto haters say it is - flubby, fizzy, and thin. As the poweramp kicks in though and begins to saturate, the amp comes alive - the bass tightens up, the whole amp thickens up and smooths out a bit, and suddenly the thing just sounds incredible.

I'd be happy to provide some Rectoverb combo tones, dimitar... I would, howver, advise against running the gain all the way up on this thing, as there's rather a lot of it. The amp responds better, depending on the mode and how hard the poweramp is running, anywhere from 11 o'clock to 2 o'clock, rather than maxed out where the sound just sort of loses itself in a wash of gain.
