I'll freely admit that I've never played a Recto Recording Pre, but my experience with a Rectoverb combo is that the Rectifier is really one of those amps that excels because of its poweramp, not it's pre. At very low volumes, it's everything recto haters say it is - flubby, fizzy, and thin. As the poweramp kicks in though and begins to saturate, the amp comes alive - the bass tightens up, the whole amp thickens up and smooths out a bit, and suddenly the thing just sounds incredible.
I'd be happy to provide some Rectoverb combo tones, dimitar... I would, howver, advise against running the gain all the way up on this thing, as there's rather a lot of it.

The amp responds better, depending on the mode and how hard the poweramp is running, anywhere from 11 o'clock to 2 o'clock, rather than maxed out where the sound just sort of loses itself in a wash of gain.
