Mesa/Boogie Single Rectifier Solo Head - is it good? opinion
Has anyone on the forum tried it out? From what I have read it has the same guts as the
Dual Recto
, but only this is 50 watts. List price?

On paper it should sound just like a quieter dual, but ya never know, it may sound different. I think list is $1100, and dealers aren't allowed to discount Mesa. The dual is only $100 more, and the triple is only $100 more than that.

As far as my opinion goes, I hate
tube amps
, with the exception of this one.
I liked the tone I got from it, I can't give a lot of info, but when I played the rec., it sounded good to me.

Just came back from Guitar Center today and a triple was priced at *$1499. *Yowch. *For just a head?
I'd get a Dual Rec Combo instead.
Now that I think about it, I guess compared to Bogners and the like, $1500 is a steal!

The difference on the heads is wattage. *I've played through the single and dual recto heads. *They both sound great. *It's just a matter of deciding how much paint you want to peel off the wall.

I've played both Dual and Single Rectos, and to me both sounded great. Both have enough gain and volume to satify a stone-deaf heavy rock player. Attack and definition are top class on both amps.
Anyhow, IMHO Dual Recto's clean sounds were better than Single's and the Dual also had a little more headroom.
