Mesa Dual Recto question for the Recto owners here!

I am trying to get a really tight gain out of the Recto

I'd like to know from all the users on the forum what tubes they are using in the pre and power sections.

The gain I'm getting now is not bad, and I'd like to know how to get a tighter LESS sag sound, no spongey sound either, I have it set to bold and on silicone diodes to get more of a tight less saggy sound.

I'm looking for Immolation/Cannibal Corpse crunch and lead tones.

Thanks guys!

Good luck, The sounds you are looking for don't often happen in real life. To be honest the dual rec just is not that super tight(vht does that better). Really it seems like you are looking for a more produced sound and not a pure amp tone. I would just try useing a big graphic eq or a sonic maximizer. And if you try the bbe remeber to roll off the highs on the amp some or you will just get sizzle. Death metal tones just are not very pure.

Oh believe me

I understand all those points, I suppose I was also using the wrong pickups for what I need.

I've setup my system today and will be getting a Gmajor and some other FX units in the coming month, so I'll have what I'm looking for

It's all about tweaking teh EQ on mesa amps!

I've got it now!

also I need a 4x12! that will help greatly for the bottom end!

Thanks

Chris

Be careful with the Gmajor.........Mesa's have parallel effects loops and the Gmajor is made for serial effects loops. In fact TC Electronics says not to use the Gmajor in a parallel effects loop.

As far as a cabinet, the Recto cabinet is made for the head. They are matched for each other and sound the best when used together.

If the amp can be set to 100% wet than it does not matter if it is parallel or not. And doesn't the gmajor have a killdry like the gforce does?( this is a question not a statement) And if the gmajor can have it's effects set to all wet than this should not matter either. Also know that unless the you can go all wet on the amp the eq will not be very effective.
