Mesa Mark IV - Anyone have the 1x12?
I was looking around on the web yesterday and I saw that Petrucci used a Mesa Mark IV 1x12 exclusively (+ 1 delay pedal) to do his "Evening with
John Petrucci
and
Jordan Rudess
" show.
I went over to harmonycentral and checked out the reviews and prices (OUCH, some people paid $2000 for a 1x12 combo...) *and I was wondering if anyone here has one and how they like it. *I may put it on my long term purchace list.

I've got a rackmount Mark IV and a Legacy 2x12 cab. *I really like it for clean sounds and lead sounds, but I can't get any real ballz (chunka chunka) out of the thing for a killer rythm sound. *I've been using a DS-1 for rythm sounds since Im selling my Tremo-verb. *I got my rack head in near mint for $900.
I think it says something that Im keeping my Mark IV and selling the T-Verb.

Hi-
* *You can probably pick up a used one on HC for around $1200; the amp is not worth $2000. *Check the classifieds.

Tomizm never should have sold that T-verb. *That was the ultimate in chunka-chunka. *He got that Mark IV head at an obseenly low price. *Since he got it, (and it was $800 Tom) *and I heard it, I looked everywhere for one that cheap. *The combos seem to go for more, many of them are made of exotic wood cabinets. *Definately go for a head. *You will find them $1200-$1400. *JP also uses a Mark II C++ which if you can find... is a killer amp too. *Mark III's are a completely different tone than the Mark II's or Mark IV's (which are somewhat similar IMHO) *So, if you are looking for a clean and lead tone only, don't sell yourself out of a Mark II in good condition, you can find them for $350-$700. *Make sure it is a Simul-Class
power amp
though.

There are currently 2 on HC, one head and one combo if you're interested.

*Cough TRIAXIS Cough*
Chunka Chunka, shimmering cleans, seering leads and everywhere in between. 128 presets, size can be determined by the need, its a 1 space rack, if you need only a 1x12 then you get a baby power amp and youre done, you want more, you can find up to a strategy 500 power amp and a few 4x12 cabs and play with the likes of
Ritchie Blackmore
. And you get the most crucial componant, BOOGIE TONE ! The Tri has all the ballz of the triple rectos, the lead tones of the mark series and the cleans not too far astray from the
fender twin
. Its truly the most flexible system I have had the pleasure to own, I don't see my self giving that one away anytime soon.
Soapbox anyone?

Well, the TriAxis is the number one thing on my wish list. *My dilemma is that I dont have the $$ to buy one, I cant trade my Mark IV for it because then I have no power section to play it thru, so I'm starting a Tri-Axis fund for myself starting with a sale of a Boss DD-5. *Go ahead, laugh yer arse off. *It's a small start, but after tax refunds, lemme see...........(mumbling to myself) sell the dd-5 for $100, then tax refunds...hmmmm $32, minus the cost of a TriAx, about 850 on ****....That only leaves about $760 left for me to earn before I can get the whole Boogie catalog of tone.
I dream of the day............
I'd trade my floral Jem for a TriAxis though
