Mesa Recto Owners - What's your settings ?

I've had my Mesa Boogie dual rect. (triple channel) for a couple of months now. The tweaking has been endless. What settings do you guys use ? *The fx send/return seems to effect the tone even with no effects in the loop. The front end of the amp is no problem but the send/return settings are bothering me. Currently I am not using any effects and just trying to get the basic settings down before adding the effects.

Mesa is proud of their loop technology claiming it is better than most companies loops because it is so transparent. *Shouldnt effect your sound at all. *I forget what my settings were on my T-Verb, but I never heard a difference from loop in to loop out. *I used to turn the volume on clean and dirty up to about 9 or 10 o'clock, then use the FX Loop knob as a master volume, to get more preamp distortion out of the amp.
As far as the back, there is a send and mix, then return knob if I remember correctly. *I had the send at 50%, the mix at 100% and then the return at 50%. *This way you can control the amount of wetness from the front of your effects.

Let me see if I can rephrase my question:

No effects in the effects loop.
1. channel selecter knob in the "foot switch mode"

2. the send knob seems to increase volume. So *naturally it is at 100%

3. mix level knob seems to change the tone. seems to work best at 10%.

I have tried different combinations of settings (front and back end of the head) but I want to know what works best for your guys.

My settings change a lot but usually something like this: *
* * * * Clean- master pres bass mid treble gain
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *7 * * * *6 * * * 0 * * * *8 * * * 4
* * * *
* * * * *Dist- * *master *pres bass mid *treble gain
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * 4-6 * * 5-7 * 3-6 * * 5-7 * *7-8
Set *the masters wherever you need it to be.

I canīt see how anyone can use full gain , i think itīs too buzzy and noisy. *I really donīt use the clean channel so much I use my legacy for clean and Lead. The recto is my metal rhythm machine.
Also whatever you put in the Loop will affect the tone whatever Mesa and other companies say. But you can get pretty good results with the loop on he recto by keeping the mix low and crank the mix on your effectbox high, adjust the send to get a good level to the effectīs input and set the return so you hear the effect. then simply adjust the amps master and Loop master to get the best results as these also affect the loops send and return strength. And the better boxes you use the better it will sound, sad but true. To get a gain boost (as if that is needed) you can set a cord between send and return without any effects and crank the send knob.
Hope this helps somewhat

Andreas
