Mesa Triple Rec. Any users here?

I'm considering trading my Engl for a triple rectifier at the moment. Anyone here have one or have had any experience with them? If so, what's your opinion on them?

I have one there isn't really anything bad I can say about it. As far as my tastes go though I think the highs are really sharp but I've heard you can make that go away with a Tung Sol in V1. What ind of Engl do you have I may be willing to trade.

Philkilla has one. Maybe he'll chime in.

I've got a Savage Special Edition. Unfortunately trading UK to Tennessee may be a bit to much

Is the tone just like the dual rec?

I've not played a Dual Rect. so i couldn't tell ya, sorry. They are great sounding amps but its gonna sound very different than your Savage.

Are you looking at 2ch or 3ch?

I think it's a 3 channel. I've asked the guy to send me some details on the amp. Plus I'm not sure whether it should be a straight trade or should I be asking for some money on top.

If there was money involved, it would be going the other way. If you can get a straight trade, i'd go for it.

I've played a couple of dual recs, and some other mesa rectifier stuff, and they really kick ass.

I know this doesn't count, but I have a Simul-Class 2:90, and it has blown away some other power amps I've had.

Tbh I'm not too sure about that. The Engl cost around £2500 when it was new (with the z-10 footswitch). It's the SE version, not the normal Savage. Of course you could be right, but I'm not sure how much the used triple rectifiers sell for over here.

I did have a 2:90 and triaxis a couple of years ago. Although it's an awesome set-up it didn't really do everything I wanted it to do, i.e. the rectifier tone, so I sold it!

Re: Mesa Triple Rec. Any users here?

I really can't speak much for a ENGL Savage, though I know the majority of ENGL's are great amps.

I am a proud owner of a 2 channel Triple Rec, and I love its sound very dearly, although there are a few things I want to change. As far as the Recto goes, I have heard on a few occasions that the 3 channel is not quite as ballsy or "toneful" as a 2 channel, and that they are also not built as sturdy.

I run it through a hot plate to attenuate some of the sound down as well.

Personally, I would stick with the Savage if the Recto is a 3 channel, and you are unable to sample it for yourself. You never know, you may lose a great amp and receive a sub-standard one in its place.

Engl for a rec? Seriously? I love Boogie, but I'd never touch a rec.

Yeah, you could be right. I might be thinking of a different model. The E660 im thinking of used to knock around for well under 2k euros new as far as i remember (and my memory aint the best )
