Mesa Triple Rectifier Help Needed

Never had this problem before. Recently decided to give the FX loop on this head a try to see how it sounded. Well...terrible so far. Nothing but extreme humming and feedback no matter what the wet/dry mix is. I'm tired of no being able to use my Master and Solo functions (they only work with Loop activated). It gets a little old having to constantly re-adjust volumes so often depending on situation. I was thinking one of the 5 12ax7's or all of them are going bad or maybe one of the 5u4g's? Can someone please help? Mesa hasn't been all that good at getting back to me when I call.

Re: Mesa Triple Rectifier Help Needed

I have mis-placed it but I recall something about microphonics and such in it but I wasn't sure as to which of the tube sets I should be looking for as it uses 3 types. Sorry if this seems like a petty question, just in a bind with it and all resources found are kinda vague and don't recall a situation like that with FX Loop involved.

couldn't you download it?
I BELIEVE mesa has a website and ALL manuals are there.
But probably it's a myth.

Re: Mesa Triple Rectifier Help Needed

To try and give a little more helpful advise...let me first make sure that you are only getting the hum and noise when you are using the loop. As for the hum, that could also be caused by a ground loop if you have some pedals in the loop. Try plugging a cord just into the send and return of the loop and see if you're still getting the problem. If you still are, and I would imagine you will, you are probably dealing with a bad tube in the V4 position. Try swapping out that tube and seeing if the problem goes away. If it doesn't, I would suggest trying to contact mesa about the issue. Hopefully that's a little more helpful...

You could have told him to check if it's plugged in or not and still been more helpful than the other person who posted in this thread.

Re: Mesa Triple Rectifier Help Needed

Bad tube, thanks smooth. Ended up being an intermittant (sp?) problem but after a while it showed itself enough to tell for sure. Weird how it would occur on occasion but have a pattern to it (loud hum/microphonics....nothing, repeat). Tubes suprise me sometime by their nature.
