Depending on the location. In cincinnati there is a two month waiting list to get your guitar worked on by a good luthier!! Look in your phone book and see what you have the least of in your area.

What I would like is a Warmoth type shop but with Ibanez shapes.

RG/Jem/JS bodies in whatever woods and also whatever finish If you wanted a ash JS in DSY with a maple neck and pyramids then you could.

You could get the basic black and white, red pre stocked

Only thing is trademarks

But I'd do Fender & Gibson styles as well, and come up with some of your own. One of those 4 humbucker Spinal Tap style guitars would be cool *LOL* just give it to me in a JEM or JS style!!

Quality custom is impossible to find. *Generally luthiers will not bother doing any sort of custom work just because they feel the money is not there for it when they are busy charging people $100+ for setups.

The market is flooded with people who will lower your action and do a mediocre job intonnating your axe.

Now finding someone to put a 24 fret neck on an S Series... that is a completely different story.

If you can branch out to doing custom replacement parts for many brands of guitars... you may find great success.

I say go with bottled water. You can undercut everybody else and still make a fortune. Sparklett's is getting about $7.00
per five-gallon bottle, and this stuff is falling out of the sky.

I'm with Joe. I'm from Houston where Aquafina is free where it comes out of the tap, but $1.35 in a litre bottle.

Actually Jay is right about the "mediocre job" thing. It might take a while to make a name for yourself, but if some goof with an allen wrench at Guitar Center can "set-up" your guitar for $30 to $50, then it seems like a guy doing things right could eventually make enough to pay his rent.

I suppose the first 2 questions should be.

1. What can you do and do well out of what you initially listed.

2. Which would you enjoy doing more?

It's ok making money, but if you can enjoy yourselk whilst your doing it then your life will be rosey.

I like the in the same neck of the woods. I can tell you that any sort of repair work is in short supply around here, especially if it involves painting.

Unfortunately, this is California, so the store shelves are packed with bottled water and coffee drinks.
