Mixing Speakers

What are your thoughts on mixing speakers? Ideally, I was thinking about mixing a Celestion Gold with a Celestion G12H (Heritage) in a Bogner large 2X12. In theory, this would create a warm low end from the G12H with a detailed top end from the Gold....

Mixing speakers is very popular for players looking to carve out a signature tone. As long as each speaker compliments each other and the resulting wattage can support your amplifier, then the sky is the limit.

Of course, if you are close mic'ing one speaker, that is the one coming through.

I do it all the time to do exactly what Van said--carve out the tone I want. (Although some may argue that I take it just a bit too far...)
