New amp from Peavey and Satch ! http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAM...mplifier-.html

Also the 3120 amp is it just me or is that just a XXX with a facelift ? http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAM...mplifier-.html

Namm has been pretty cool this year so far

Woah nice, I like the idea of the 50 watt jsx, I usually like peavey stuff so I'm sure it all will be good. I like peavey enough to want to get a Jsx or 5150 even when I have a legacy haha... I guess it is GAS

I think the 3120 is voiced to not be as metal-sounding as the XXX.

Wait a sec, isn't my JSX combo already switchable to 50w?

Re: More namm stuff Peavey JSX50

The combo is switchable to 50 but the head version isn't.

And there are some differences in the 50 watt head, there is a video of it on youtube where a dude from Peavey talks about it. There is also a another thread here that shows all the specs.

EDIT: Here is the info from the other thread

“Traditionally, 50-watt amps always seem to have the perfect amount of volume and sag to create a true rock & roll moment,” Satriani says. “But the golden era of the 50-watt didn’t see a version that had a variety of sounds or were actually useful tools for the gigging musician. Peavey and I were finally able to bring this idea of a really rockin’ 50-watt into the modern era where real guitar players can use it. We wound up with a really bold, in-yourface sound.” - Joe Satriani

I'm pretty sure it's a totally different amp to the JSX, not just a 2-channel, 50 watt version.

Yeah, they say on the video that only the cosmetics are similar to its big brother.

yeah it's a head version of the Mini Colossal which is a Class A amp. That basically means that it's input sensitive for it's gain control.

MSRP says $1500 so I'm guessing it'll be around $1150-1250 or so street.

Its can't be Class A, 2 x 6550 in Class A wouldn't be anywhere close to 50watts.

Interestingly, in the video, the Peavey rep basically says something like 'Joe showed us one of his favourite amps and said he wanted something like this, and that's what the JSX 50 is' which is a strange thing for Peavey to admit.

I wonder what amp they were referring to ?

Bumping this to see if anyone's heard anything about this amp? I see that it's no longer on the Peavey page under the JSX amps. Wonder if they're going to repackage it like they did the 5150/6505 thing when EVH left them.

I've gotten mixed info on the whole Satriani/Peavey situation but here's the deal as I understand it: The 50 watt JSX has been scrapped and, as RUMOR has it, Peavey is looking to make a 4 channel version of the JSX. However, as most have noticed, Joe is playing Marshall now on the road with Chickenfoot. So, if he has officially split from Peavey, they'll probably keep the line and rename it, as you speculated.

Where that gets sticky is that Satriani has stated that his deal with Peavey allows him to use other manufacturer's gear, and no official word has ever come down that states that Joe has abandoned his deal with Peavey, or vice-versa. I do know that there was a bit of a rift between Peavey and Joe over the debut last December of the JSX50 at NAMM, being that he hadn't given final approval of the amp but they debuted it anyway.

Anyway, dropping the 50 watt JSX would make a lot of sense if Joe has split because that takes away the amp's biggest selling point: The Satriani name. Especially considering that Peavey is now marketing their Custom Shop amps which include three 50 watt models anyway, and are geared more for the players who would really want a Class A amp in the first place.

Thanks for the breakdown Analog. I'm interested to see what comes of this as I was really looking forward to the 50watter. By the way, where are you getting your information from? I'd like to look it up if these are online articles or something like that. If insider info, that's cool too.
