Any recommendation?

I know about/have or have owned the following

ENGL E530 PREAMP
TECH 21 PSA PREAMP
JACKSON JX-1
HALFER T3

Id really like to keep it under $1000.00 if possible. Used stuff is great too!

I have not owned any of those but the Peavey Rockmaster is definitely worth checking out. It is basically the Peavey Ultra 120 in rack format; if you are not familiar with the Ultra 120 it is almost the same thing as the XXX just a little bit warmer sounding (and has tons more sustain; I never really liked the XXX, it lacks the punch of the Rockmaster).

You can usually pick up a used one for about $125-175.

The Engl didn't do it for you? You might try a Kasha Rockmod II, the I is nice too but only 2 channels, the II is three channels. You can find used ones well within your price range, but they are kinda rare, I picked one up for $250 recently but they seem to be going up in price since Kasha is back in business. A new one is $1595. They are by far my favorite preamp.
