Multi Chan amps in the UK...

Wow... that title kinda sounds like fear and loathing... in the UK...
Anyway, to the britts out there i need a bit of help. I'm moving to the UK in three months hoping to get into one of the music schools there and i'm ditching my current rig (JCM800) because i can't afford to ship it, and no longer want a single chan amp as my playing has evolved since i bought it for the metal band i was in at the time.

So the question is:
Cheep and descent mutli (2 chan min) amps... what am i looking at cost wise.
I've seen Valve kings for arround 300 quid for the 100 watt head. Now i'm not set on Peavy, but i've heard good things... also i know their's laney but we hardly ever get them down here in NZ so i've never heard one.

What do you guys think?
I'm torn beteen a combo and a head/cab... are there any other smaller UK based companies that offer good cheep (i know its an oxymoron) versitile amps.

I'd go for a Laney VH100R, I've seen those things go dirt cheap on **** UK. If you basically want a JCM800 with 2 channels then that will do it for you.

Tr00.
I will bare that in mind, thing is i'm kinda looking for a change in sounds, hence me thinking Peavy. What are the clean channels like on the Laney? They're not like a Marshall's clean are they?
All that said i see hardly any Peavy on the UK Bay, whats with that?
Thanks for the input dude.

If I remember correctly, Opeth uses Laney amps and they have an excellent clean sound.
