MXR Carbon Copy Vs. Time Machine

Hey guys, i have a Boss DD3 delay, and as much as i like it, it has a very digital (for lack of a better word) sound to it... each repeat is perfectly the same as the one before...

Looking to get more of a vintage sound, and seeing what little is available to me down here, i kinda narrowed it down to these two. Ive heard samples and stuff, and tried the MXR myself. Cant get a hold of a Time Machine tho, id have to order it blind.

They cost the same basically, the Time Machine seems more versatile, but the MXR is really analog, so, what would you recomend? Does the vintage mode on the TM sound vintagey enough or not?

Thanx!

Re: MXR Carbon Copy Vs. Time Machine

I haven't used a Carbon Copy but I've fallen for the Time Machine after trying one recently. It is all analog and I can tell you it's vintage mode sounds better than the tape and analog modes on my Boss DD-20.

I assumed the TM was digital... i didnt think one could get almost 6 full seconds of delay with analog..

I'm pretty sure the Time Machine is a digital delay, not analogue...but I don't know that you should hold that against it.

You're right, I just read that it is "simulates" analog delay with a saturation circuit... I'd have to say pretty damn good for how it turned out

I've been wondering the same question. I'm thinking of getting both so that I can set them at different times like Satch does.

Re: MXR Carbon Copy Vs. Time Machine

both are great , i have the time machine , dd3 , and a evintide time factor ,, i tried the carbon and for your needs the mxr should be the best , i will say that you would still be happy with either ...... if you get the mxr it will be how you described you wanted the sound , if you get the time machine you will get very close but also have the option to go digital for that kind of sound too ,,,, depends on how much you need the true analog sound

Re: MXR Carbon Copy Vs. Time Machine

If you are looking for analog I would keep the DD-3 and get a Carbon Copy, Time Machine is based on a DD-3 with an analog simulation but its not as good as the real thing.
