MXR Smart Gate or Rocktron Hush Pedal?

As the subject line says, I'm considering buying either the Smart Gate or Hush pedals.

The Smart Gate is MXR/Dunlop's reincarnation of the Scholz Smart Gate that used to be mounted in a 1/2 rack format.

I'm familiar with the rack mounted Hush units, but haven't tried the pedal version. They're different from noise gates in that they lower the hiss to a lower level instead of cutting your signal off at a predetermined threshold level.

Anyone care to share their experiences with these pedals?

I've tried both and have bought and sold both at my store.
Many Rocktrons hushs are coming back because they are weak. They
just cant get the job done in many situations. I would say the hush is good if you have a tiny bit of noise, anything more will not suffice.

Anywho, the MXR Smartgate was one of the best noise reducers I ever tried. If you adjusted it correctly it didnt cut the sound out early at all. But at the same time it drastically cut out any noise I was trying to get. I also think it's HELLA more versatile then the hush. Has like 3 diff modes and the usual threshold.

My strong vote goes for the MXR. Stay away from the hush.
