I bought a monster patch cable and speaker cable and 4 brand new Celestion Classic Lead 80s...

Hope this was worth it...

The Classic Lead 80s are nice sounding speakers, as for the Monster cables, they have been discussed quite a bit here, try a search.

Not a monster cable fan I see (from a search!)...

Oh well, they are the best and there probably isnt that much of a difference between something cheaper anyway, but they are guaranteed for life.

I look at it this way - if the cables arent any better, then I wasted money on my speaker cable. But when I plugged them both in I heard an immediate improvement on my sound. And more than that, I go through a $20 20 foot cable every few years, so if I ever kill one of these, I can take it back for another!

My friend managed to destroy two of them (one half intentionally!) and he took them back and got another, no questions asked.

That's about the only thing Monster does right, their return policy.

The patch cable should make a difference in your tone, while the speaker shouldn't, from a purely physical standpoint. That said, doesn't Monster cover damage to gear stemming from a cable failure, up to like the first grand? I thought i heard that, and it'd be a bit of an incentive to drop that kind of cash on a speaker cable - if it shorts out and you blow a transformer, knowing someone else will pick up the tab.

"Oh well, they are the best"

Prove it.

There will be a difference between a good cable and a crappy one, Monster makes a good cable, but not worth what they charge. Sorry, they are more hype than anything. The only good thing about them is their return policy, I guess they expect everyone to use it so they charge you up front for 3 or 4 cables. For the price I can buy alot of George L cable.

$0.02,
Roger

Monster Cables are really good for making knots.

I just lay it flat stretched out on the ground, and leave the room for 1 minute.

Ive got a Dimarzio cable that I really like, because it WILL NOT twist up or pretzel or anything. It lays flat all the time.

But my favorite cable so far is a cheap Rapco Roadhog that I got for $15 at Guitar Center. Sounds great to my ears.

Just because YOU cant hear it, doesnt mean it's not true :P And if you dont know the difference in speaker cable, let me tell you, a Marshall Major sure as hell will!

I probably could have bought 2 George Lynch cables for the price of the instrument cable though, damnit I wish I did that now!

Yeah, that's what he was telling you. George L's sound excellent, are actually easily repairable, are affordable, and are made by a small-ish but cool company. That's three out of four over Monster.

Nice looking cables! Never heard of them...very interesting!

When I managed a music store, I'd gotten so used to people coming in and asking for "George Lynch" cables when they really wanted "George L" cables.

Thanks for the info!

Not to mention the fact that George L cables haven't sued everybody who uses the name "George"

Are you saying that Monster's aren't easily repairable? If it breaks, take it back and get an exact replica for free...hmm...I guess you're right, since there's no repair involved at all with Monster

That's great. Unless you're a working musician and need to fix it then and there. You can fix a George L cable with a screwdriver and wire cutters. Or a pocket knife.

Shouldn't a working musician have a couple backups?
