a chameleon black face maybe...
I always read that the voodu valve sounded better than the prophesy so why not get another one?
anyone played the carvin Tone Navigator? I wonder how good it is...

Get the Prophesy, if you can get it for under $700. Great unit!

if you don't need fx with it, i'd reccommend (as always :P ) the hughes and kettner access, although that's not going to leave a lot left to add in an fx processor...

Preamp

I've got an Engl 520 preamp I'm looking to sell.
CRUSHING gain / AMAZING cleans.
No Midi though.

If you're really looking for multiple tones and some effects, seriously, consider the Behringer V-Amp Pro -- -It is so underrated, it's not funny.
I was a HUGE Line6 freak and have several Line6 products.
I bought a Pod Pro for $600 new at GC, then for fun, I bought the V-Amp Pro for $180 shipped brand new and it has been my main live/recording preamp since. It absolutely hands down destroys the Line6 gear. Period.

Just a small question.......is the V-amp Pro better in sound quality then the normal V-amp 2?

It seems to be.
I know that I have a Line 6 Pod Pro that was my main preamp.
I loved it.
I put the V-Amp Pro in my rack and haven't unplugged it since.

For 700 bucks? A couple of used JMP-1īs, a Rectifier Recording Preamp (used), a Voodu Valve or a TriAxis if you find one.

I haven't tried the Prophesy, but if you liked the Voodu you can buy a couple of them for that much. My preference would be an old ADA MP-1 and the Rocktron Expression for effects, you can get both of those for less than $700. I have a modded MP-1 and a Rocktron Intellifex and I love the sound. I'd like to pick up an Expression someday for the extra effects and the Speaker Sims.

what do you think of chameleon?
I own one (the first one) and a midi mate foot controller
and I'm planning to buy a pod xtlive

how do you compare the two soundwise
(I am not an fx freak but I want to get really good sound)

I'm using the chamelen on fx return of my marshall jtm60

should I stick with the chameleon?
and any tips on sound (pre-eq post-eq etc)

I actually really love the live tone I'm getting from the V-amp pro. After some tweaking and an eq inline, its fantastic. Super impressed for the price.

i just purchased a v-amp pro, and it's killer, i'm very, very impressed, and they're comparably super cheap. it's my first piece in my rack you could say, using it into a line6 spider II + 4x12 at rehersals and peavey rage 158 for home, soon i'll be buying a power conditioner, rack, and some stuff like EQ and compression.

One question......I don't have a rack.....but I suppose you can just plug the V-amp Pro in your power outlet , rock and roll and use it as a stand alone device? If not then what is the difference between a V-amp Pro and a V-amp 2?
