My tube amp is make a weird noise? please help!
its a weird low sounding noise, only on the distortion channels. it sort of sounds like a faint siren..
anyways im pretty sure its not the tubes, i changed the preamp tubes a few months ago and i think the powertubes are like a year old..
any suggestions?
by the way its a Marshall Tsl100 if that helps..
thanks!

I've heard that once......but then the cops came in and it expained everything. Do you move your amp around? Are you always using the same AC outlet? It could be a power thing. Try a
Furman power conditioner
if possible. They will show you what voltage your head gets. This could be tricky to solve. A number of things could be happening. Do as much toubleshooting as you can before the service department. Switch everything! Guitars.....cables.....outlets......power cords (check your computer......they have lots of them)...try it at other people's houses.....turn off all lights or things that drain power......freezers are great for noise! Don't have to unplug them....just make sure your on a driffrent circuit. It could be a very simple thing.......don't panic yet.....keep trying......I've seen it simple as a microphonic pickup. These high gain amps will pickup all kinds of junk from bad shielding in cables. Spend the money on a good cable.........$50.00 or so.......look what you spent on your amp.....it deserves the best! Good luck

Thanks guys......just love this forum. I've been a Jem owner since they came out. I manage a
music store
with well over 200 guitars in stock and I am also the tech (Fender Certified). We do have an electronics tech also but I have 25 years of hacking on gear! I do have alot of resources due to the fact that I am a dealer for Ibanez, Marshall, Peavey, Fender, Martin, B.C. Rich, Yamaha, Vox, Warwick, and many more. I also play in a band called Bangers n' Mash which is recording our first cd right now. So I know about live music and studio wows. I also do the sound for our band and any of the bands that get hired at our local casino. I don't consider myself a know it all but I have been around the industry for a while so I can help in alot of diffrent ways. One thing that I'm not afraid to say is "I don't know". With guitars, their can be alot of ways to fix them. These are suggestions.......my way may not be the best way. Most of the time there is the easy way and then there is the right way. Read up on your gear and make the decision. You can never know too much

Yeah, but my eyes are now bleeding, use the return key a little more often and you'll get my full approval

Don't rule out the preamp tubes either, i've had this before and changed to
Electro Harmonix
12AX7Hs I believe, that sorted it.
