NAD(New Amp Day)
Hey guys, a few weeks ago and to my surprise, I got a
Carvin
Legacy
head and an extension cabinet. My family all worked hard and chipped in to get my dream amp for my 18th bday that was at the end of October.
Let me first start off by saying yes, it is loud. But my Boss Gt-pro cuts many many dbs and even makes my clean channel sound like SRV when im playing my fender.
The tone of this thing is AMAZING, with my nova wah that I am selling I can get Zappa tone like in Muffin Man, with just delay added I can get 80's metal, smooth jazz, Vai tone (of course) and with some Ds-1 or TS9 I can get some Satch or even harder rock. I haven't found something this amp cant do, I will probably use this thing until it explodes from me using it so much. I really can't think of any word to describe it other than amazing. I did some Eq work on my Boss and that added to its tone library and overall tone.
I don't have any pics yet since I dont have anything but a crappy webcam. I have part of the Legacy in a shot I got when taking pics of my Nova Wah though.

Re: NAD(New Amp Day)
Alright, I'll try and get some clips. I'm still trying to get all my recording stuff in order to make it sound like it does in the room, also you will get to hear my lame playing!! I feel like im at one of those plateaus right now, and my migraine medicine that I have to stop because of side effects seems to be somehow affecting my musical skills haha.
Other than that, the legacy tone, the Rg and my hands should hopefully do this
amp
some well deserved justice. I will definitely also post the uber blues tone I got with my gt-pro and the clean channel.

Re: NAD(New Amp Day)
awesome dude.. despite the bad reviews, i think these amps are bang on for the price.. mine sounds great at a low volume as well as high. and there is twice as much gain as what you would need to get a shreddable tone.

NAD!!! LOL. This thread could have gone a total different way if you had put,
"Pictures of my NAD"
Congrats.
The clean on the Legacy is probably the best I have ever heard.
And the volume on the thing is crazy. You have to regulate it with your Boss or get an Attenuator.

+1 to all of that!!
If you're after an attenuator I just got a Weber Mass III & can definitely recommend it!
It works great with a Legacy, enables me to crank the amp to around 5 in my living room with very little degradation in tone.
I had previously trialled both a Marshall Powerbrake and also a THD Hotplate.
This thing is loads better than both!

I was thinking about getting a Weber Mass, I can't afford anything very super though so I was thinking a mini mass or w/e its called. I asked Weber and he said with 50 watt switch and me not cranking the thing to maximum would be fine with the mini. I need to sell that Keeley pedal i posted last night to be able to get one haha

Re: NAD(New Amp Day)
All Weber attenuators utilize an actual speaker motor to apply a reactive load on the amp.
That is what makes them different from most other Attenuators.
Any of them will do the job you're after I'm sure, & as you've already discovered Ted Weber will give you good advice.
The useful feature in the Mass III is that it has a Bass, Mids, & Treble control in the attenuator circuit.

Re: NAD(New Amp Day)
I mad a short clip of some different settings, it isn't exactly like how it sounds in person since I still suck at recording. Also my hand is sorta hurt from playing too much upright bass, partially due to the last Philharmonic concert I had to play >_< . I'll start doing more stuff and posting it later.
It is called Legacy Test, the others are old stuff when I sucked worse than I do now at guitar and recording :P

Re: NAD(New Amp Day)
Soon I'll make another vid since I think I fixed some recording issues, but I just realized that the 2x12 and head together weigh 77lbs, damn that Vai and his 777 haha
