If you're a rock or metal player, I suggest the Marshall MG series. Great tones, user friendly, & way more reliable than a Crate or Line6 Spider.

try carvin sx-200 it's cheap (i got mine for about 200 bucks) and it's pretty good. other than that you can consider the line 6 spider maybe? or if i were you, i'd get the fender. i love fender's clean sound

You should be able to score a Carvin XV-112 or similar on E-vil-Bay for around $350. You'll be getting an all tube, 100 watt 1x12 combo with a footswitchable spring reverb & effects loop, a nice distortion channel and a superb clean channel. Considering all of the solid state amps you mentioned, the Carvin will blow them all out of the water.

if you have to go with a solid state the tech 21 trademark 60 is a great alternative. If you have a cabinet keep an eye out for a Sovtek MIG head or a Traynor YBA-1 for a plexi type tone on the cheap.
