Ive got a lefty RG2550, and am by no means an accomplished player, just bedroom riffing etc.
Ive got an amp, a washburn bad dog 50, jsut a
practice amp, for practice, bedroom use etc. Anyway, the reason I am asking, is this : it sounds ****. Its really tinny, and harmonics etc hardly ring out, even on high volume. there doesnt seem to be any richness or warmth whatsoever in the tone. I dont use any effects, just the overdrive channel. I have an old effects unit, but the distortion/overdrive on that is tinny too.
I play metallica riffs, with a bit of
gary moore etc, and would like the singing highs gary gets (or an approximation of, I know his tone is unique and will have cost a fortune!) and would also like a bit of weight behind the bottom end for riffs etc.
The sound is so **** I cant get the sounds I want, so my playing sounds ****, so I am neglecting my playing, becasue it sounds so ****.
what amp and/or effects can you recommend that would give a better tone ?
just for bedroom/practice use, so please dont suggest a 4x12 stack etc !! surely theres better gear than the **** Im using now !! My budget is, approx £3-400 or so, I dont mind going slightly higher or lower than this.
