Need help coming up with a very portable rig

I'm normally a tube guy - 100%. I use a Rivera R55-112 combo.

I was at a bar Saturday night and saw a band that was a mind blower. Rob Fahey and The Pieces. Rob played the gig using nothing but a Strat clone, a Roland Cube 30X and a few Boss pedals. It was most definitely the talent, but Rob squeezed every classic rock / soul / funk / jazz guitar sound imaginable out of that little combo and 10" speaker.
