Drop the chalupa!
I would play the Line 6 and the Marshall side by side first. * If you don't want to spend extra $$$ on outboard gear but like effects, the line 6 is the way to go. *I don't really like Marshall but I really don't like Crate. *If you want a bit more power and possibly a more versatile setup, save some more money and get the Marshall and a Line 6 pod.
My opinion on the Line 6 stuff is this. *It's great stuff for what it is. *You get ton's of effects and they all sound good. *I feel they sound about 80% - 90% accurate. *That's really good for any amp that has that many options. *To get 100% sound of something you will only get it by building that same setup. *For versatility in a single package I don't think you'll beat the Line 6 for the money.
On another amp choice, recently at Axe music, I was waiting for a sales dude and I got kind of bored so I picked up a DBK that was on the wall and went into the amp room. *No-one was in there so I found an amp that was plugged in and started to play. *Well, this amp sounded great for a little amp! *It was the new
Peavey Bandit 112 and it was the best sounding Peavey amp I've ever heard. *Quite versatile for an amp without a processor too. *The best part was it was only $550 Canadian brand new! (about $360US). *I thought maybe the pickups in the DBK had something to do with it so I also tried a ESP (LTD), a
Parker Fly deluxe, an American Strat, a PRS McCarty model, an RG550, and a couple cheapo wanna-be Ibanez's called "Phil" guitars. *They all sounded great through it. *I'm not a Peavey fan but this amp is starting to change my views a little bit. *Maybe this one was a freak too but I damn near bought it for a little practice amp.
Good luck finding the new amp!
