Need Ozzy Vocal Effect

Hi,

I need information on Ozzy Osbournes vocal effects. I have no idea where to go on the 'net' for anything aon vocals. I know Ozzy used a harmonizer, but I need to know how to try and duplicate his 'tone'. Would a detune or chorus be best?? or can I use a digitech vocalist harmoniser. If so, how would it be best to use it??

Most everything Ozzy records is just plain ol' double tracked...i.e., sung twice on two separate tracks. DLR did this on most of the VH recordings too.

If you have a vocal harmonizer and are limited on tracks (or looking to do it live), take a very very short delay - maybe 100ms or shorter - and pitch shift it down (or up) ever so slightly (use the 'fine tune' if there is one). If you're running stereo, pan the wet signal a bit to one side while sending the dry signal symetrically to the other side.

Chorus on a vocal will sound a little synthetic.

Uhh...a very BIG effect that Ozzy HEAVILY USES is an Autotuner (Antares Autotuner).

He doesn't sing quite as well as he used to and this masks a lot of the minor misses he has with nailing certain ranges.

I'd stick with the advice on the harmonizing above than the autotuner..but the autotuner does have a significant 'sound' effect on his voice.
