Need some Amp advise

Hello,
i will probably complete my setup with another preamp or complete head soon...

i use to play at home so power isn't my objective, i've got several possibility's but my usual config to play without have problem with neighbours is a Boss GT5 with a Monster Metal preamp in the effect loop, i use the HP simulator and it's directly pluged in the PC... I'm completly satify of that, the results are amazing, but when i want to play a real amp :-) i have a nice Legacy combo but want to complete it with more agressive tones...

actually i'm between 2 things, but i'm open to suggestions :

i can get a VHT pitbull head for a good price but this doesn't match my usual needs, a preamp could be enough (i also have to check that i can use only the preamp section of the head without damaging power amp.

Or i can get a Mesa Boogie Triaxis (witch is incredibly expensive in france).
A simple Preamp could be more adapted to my situation (plugged on the Carvin or in the GT5 effect loop)...

but i would like to have some advise about that ...

now your turn

Don't put the Triaxis into the legacy, it will sound like dog poo. *IMO, If you want to get a more agreesive tone out of the legacy, you should get an OD pedal. *If you're still not happy with that sound, sell the Legacy and get the triaxis and a power amp or the VHT head.

I agree with Dave. Try out as many different overdrive pedals as possible in front of the Legacy. I recently acquired an old Ibanez Tube Screamer to put it in front of my Marshall JCM800. It just gets squeezes that little bit more out of the amp and it sounds great! A good overdrive pedal put before the Legacy should sound awsome. It will also be a lot cheaper than replacing your whole rig.
