Need to change an amp speaker

Hi, I have a Marshall Valvestate 8080 which has a blown speaker. What should I do about it? Recone or replace. If I should recone, how do I do it? I should reaplce it, how should I do it? I will be doing everything myself.

Re: Need to change an amp speaker

I don't know a single thing about reconing a speaker, but I imagine it's not easy. For a valvestate, I can't imagine it's a rare/expensive enough speaker to recone. Go buy a replacement of the same impedence and proper wattage and put it in. It's easy to pull one out and put another in

Re: Need to change an amp speaker

How many speakers does your amp have? Replacing speakers is much easier and less tedious than reconing one. This would be the perfect opportunity to replace both (if your amp has 2 speakers) with a nicer speaker or speakers to sweeten the sound of the amp a little more.
