New amp

Ok i need help. I have just been at rock school. Everyone had fantastic amps bar me. I have an RG and i need an amp that will bring out the full potential in it. I don't want a combo, a vintage amp or a rack pre amp. I have about £1300 to spend (about $2600) any sugesstion, also it has to be a tube amp
thanks

Re: New amp

I'm biased, but you can get a really good setup for about half what you're looking to spend...

$850 for a mint used JSX head driving an Avatar 2x12 at about $300. Or pic the cab of your choice.

I figure if the JSX is good enough for Satch, I can't come up with any legitimate reasons to bitch about it

Yeah like he's playing the stock JSX you buy.

And rocker you are living in Laney Land aren't you. Great Amps for a great Price. I got myself a Genz Benz with a G Flex Cab and its sweet for way less money. Hughes and Kettner Switchblade runs for 1200 which is great too.

For that money there are TONS of choices out there. I would buy something versatile, as you probably will not just learn numetal tunes. As good as the boogies are, not sure if you cover all your bases with them, especially when it comes to cleans.

P.S Vox has some really nice stuff too and is in the UK

I think you are on the right track going for a Mesa.

Re: New amp

Just remember that with tube amps, when you buy, it's always a good idea to save a little cash to buy an entire re-tube kit (one replacement for every tube in there), especially if you buy used
