Re: New Cabinet time!

I think V30s would sound fine in the Splawn cabs. It just happens to be that V30s don't sound that great with the Splawn heads, because there's this huge mid-honk thing when you combine the two. But I'm sure it would sound fine with a Dual Rec.

Re: New Cabinet time!

thanks for the input. just looked at the specs of a mesa traditional vs the splawn and the dimension are very similar with the splawn being like 3/4" shorter is all. i bet with V30s it would sound very similar to the mesa traditional and thus very good with my dual rec.

Re: New Cabinet time!

Yeah, at that point, it all comes down to wood selection I guess. I doubt you could go wrong with either.

Re: New Cabinet time!

since you're aiming as high as the Mesa/Orange cabs, check out VHT or Vader cabs.

As for Standard vs Oversized Mesa cabinets, the difference's are mainly structural; wider spacing between each individual speaker and more "hollow space". As for speakers, they're both stock with V30s

+1. My Trad. sized Rectifier cab is really tight sounding with my JSX.
