Re: New From Line6
Yeah, i checked out the Variax bass demo a couple of weeks ago. It looks really cool, but i thought some of the bass sounds sounded too synthetic.
Has Line 6 made
any
of their software work on Mac OS X yet? The Patch editing software for the Pod XT Pro is really impressive.

Re: New From Line6
I'm just waiting for workbench software to be available. Line 6 likes changing dates. The variax bass looks pretty sweet, but they didnt make a 5 string version which is keeping me from buying one......you would think that they would make one. I'm not a pro bass player, but i liked the sounds on the demo. The whole concept of having different basses in the same bass is pretty cool. Great for the studio. The variax electrics and the acoustic......are pretty cool too.

Re: New From Line6
If I had the money, I'd pick up a Variax 700 or Variax Acoustic 700. As far as the Variax bass, it seems cool, but the only sounds I think I'd find myself using are the Precision and Jazz Bass settings, and I've already got a Fender Jazz Bass V 5-string, so I think I'll pass

Re: New From Line6
I'm thinking of getting a 700 electric, and depending on compatibility of the acoustic with workbench.....i might not have to get the acoustic. I'd probably only use one or two of the models on the acoustic anyway. If workbench has virtual capo, mic placement, and all the other stuff the acoustic can do, I wouldn't need the acoustic. The electric has some acoustics on there.....a Martin that sounds pretty nice....and its got the sitar, dobro, and banjo too. I 'm just waiting for a 5 string version of the bass.

All the same stuff runs on OSX. The Monkey app downloads the current L6 Edit version, and any applicable firmware.
With L6 Edit, the POD XT 2 is like an amplifier software emulator with DSP hardware that doesn't bog the CPU and sounds better too.
