NEW GEAR DAY: AxeTrak

Ok, so it's SO new that I haven't even plugged it in yet, but today I bought a JLH AxeTrak isolated speaker cabinet so I can finally record product reviews for my blog, and of course get the sound of a real Marshall onto my recordings instead of having to use software simulations all the time.

I first heard about this about a month or so and wrote about it on my blog, and the more I thought about it, the more I realised it was just what I needed. I managed to find one at a local store for a mere $399 AUD, which was a bargain since the price sticker said $999 AUD. It was floor stock that hadn't shifted in about a year.

The first thing I'll be using it for is demo of the Roger Mayer Spitfire X and Mongoose X pedals which the Aussie Roger Mayer distributor may put on his website.

Nice, I'd get one if I didn't have to spend so much haha. I will probably end up making an encloser sooner or later for my Legacy cab

Re: NEW GEAR DAY: AxeTrak

I started work on my Mayer demos last night and I'm so impressed by the AxeTrak (and the pedals, but that goes without saying). It was easily able to handle whatever I could throw at it.

Clips coming very soon! I just have to record the bass on the first 2 demos. Each demo is only about 30 seconds long. So theoretically it should only take me 60 seconds, right?

Ok, these are unmixed and they're literally the first 2 things I recorded with it.

Roger Mayer Mongoose X fuzz pedal into Marshall DSL50 (lead guitar: Ibanez Universe. Rhythm guitars: Telecaster)

Ibanez Universe straight into DSL50:
