New gear, XT Live :)
Hey guys
This weekend I grabbed a Variax 500 and POD XT Live.
Both great products, endless tones to be had.
However, one thing bothers me. Every metal tone I make has this highly irritating, and un-EQ-able mid hump, that won't go away. It's not as noticible when playing rhythm stuff but when playing leads, it drives me crazy!
Can anyone help?
Cheers
Joe

Re: New gear, XT Live :)
Are you playing the XT Live through headphones only, through another amp or through a PA?

Headphones and PA (or monitors or..... well, as close to flat response as I can get). But at home where I do my tweaking, headphones.

Re: New gear, XT Live :)
I've found that whenever I tweak my XT LIVE through headphones alone, it never sounds quite the way I'd like it through the PA. I've started doing all adjustments directly through the PA, since that's how I use the unit at gigs. Haven't have any realy problems at all with the EQ, but it's pretty subjective really

I found the easiest way to adjust the EQ on my XT Live is to use the usb and do it through the computer. Once you start messing with the EQ through
guitar port
, you can basically achieve any tone you want.

Agreed 100%. The PC application is by far the easiest way to get your patches to where you want them. Is it possible to have the unit hooked up through the PA while adjusting via the USB port? My PA is in a different part of the house, so I usually get a patch set to where it sounds good via USB, then take it to the PA and fine-tune for live use.

Re: New gear, XT Live :)
Cheers guys, I got Monkey and downloaded heaps of software for it. I also got my friend to bring his monitors round and when I did, we discovered that it was my cheap ass headphones that were causing that annoying mid hump! So he lent me a spare pair of headphones that sound much better and I've been tweaking since.
I'm currently awaiting my VDI cable so I can get workbench
and my next purchase is going to have to be the Metal Shop model pack

I've never tried the XT live before, but I saw a band a couple months ago and the gutiar player was playing a USA Wolfgang through one of those. We got to talking gear and he said he used to be a
tube amp
purest, but after getting the XT live, he'll never buy an amp again.....
