Re: New Satriani Delay Pedal
Cool! I've heard about this for a while but haven't seen any pics until this one. I hear he's been testing a Vox wah prototype on the road too. I wanna post about this pedal on my blog but information is still pretty hard to come by.
If the second switch is a tap tempo, I'm SO getting that pedal.

Re: New Satriani Delay Pedal
Didn't see this coming, thanks for sharing waylay00. I was considering the TC Nova Delay or the new BBE Two Timer, but I might hold off until more details are revealed about the Satch delay pedal.

Re: New Satriani Delay Pedal
Looks like he's using it for short delays. The Boss delay pedal next to it has 'long' on it. I wonder if the Vox will have the ability to do long and short at the same time? That would be handy but a tap tempo is a must.

Re: New Satriani Delay Pedal
Looks cool (diggin' those chicken-head knobs), and it'll probably sound good, but it'll have to be super-impressive for me to switch out my Nova.

Tap tempo is tapping on the button at the tempo for the delay time you want.

...and to further complicate the issue, some pedals (e.g. Nova, Eventide Time Factor, etc) have a "strum tempo" feature, whereby you hold down the tap tempo switch, and then hit a string twice in a whatever tempo you wish (which is silenced, of course), and then release the switch, and it sets your tempo based on that.

Re: New Satriani Delay Pedal
Sweet, maybe I can send Musicians Friend some more money to keep for me, and they can deliver this and my back ordered Satchurator before the 2112 Holiday season.
I'm not bitter at all, btw.

MF? Really? I feel for you, man.
Look on the bright side, though...you just might receive BOTH pedals just after GnR releases "Chinese Democracy".

Ah, okay, that makes sense. And thanks to chaos too. Just to continue being obvious for a moment, wouldn't that be absolutely necessary in a delay pedal? I mean, from a standing position, you're not going to reach down and twist a knob to set the delay, right?
New album, national tour, rave reviews for the sold-out Satchurator, the Mini Colossal (I love mine at least), awesome Ibanez JS 20th, and now news that there are more endorsements in the pipeline . . . it seems like Joe's career is hotter than it's been since the early nineties and I am happy for him. Go Joe!

Re: New Satriani Delay Pedal
Oh, it get's worse. the level of my retardation knows no bounds.
If you pay with credit card, they don't charge your card until a BO'd order ships. If you PayPal it (which they recommend... Of course) They get your money on day 1 and you could fill a 55 gallon drum with blood obtained from various stones before you get PayPal money back.
btw, I've got Chinese Democracy on order from Columbia House records. I expect my cassette any day now!

Let's put it this way, guitarists survived without tap tempo for a long, long time before it became widely available on a variety of pedals. That said, once you have a delay with tap tempo, you'll never want to go back. Instant, on-the-fly adjustment is a good, good thing.
And yes, it does seem that Joe is seeing as much mainstream success as he's ever had. Nobody more deserving, in general.
