New TC electronic G-sharp V the G Major

Hi,
Is the g-sharp intended to be a replacement to the g-major? Does anyone know what the quality of the effects are compared between the two products? Are they esential the same effects controlled by the same software, although with fewer effects on the G-sharp?
Thanks,
Chris

I figured it was just the entry level cut down (i.e. cheap) version.

Yeah its a lot cheaper, however I was about to but the G-major until I saw all the reviews on Harmony C that mentioned very poor reliability! Shame.

Re: New TC electronic G-sharp V the G Major

I've been happily using my G-Major for about 5 years now in a variety of situations in various rigs with no problems. It isn't built like a tank, but then it's designed to be in a rack, not perched on top of an amp. The common complaint is the input wheels. They can fall off if you knock them, but they push right back on again. Also if you don't use them for a while they become a little glitchy. I've found that a quick blast with dry air fixes that, but provided you give them a turn every so often it doesn't seem to happen much - provided you keep it away from excessive dust.

Re: New TC electronic G-sharp V the G Major

i've had a g major for a while and love it. the wheels are finicky, but if you treat it nicely, you should have no problems at all. it looks like with the g sharp, you can only pick one effect from each of the 2 engines at one time. so if pitch and flange are in the same engine, can't use them together. actually i just looked at the pic on tc's site and it looks like there is and effects engine that has everyhting but reverb, and a reverb engine. so you pprobaly can't have any effect paired with delay, except reverb. that wouldn't work for me.

i'd go with a g major, and just be nice to it. and you should be more than happy.
