New valve amp

Hi everyone. I'm thinking of buying my first valve amp. My current set up is : Marshall MG15cdr, Boss gt8, Rocket deluxe strat copy (came in a package with the marshall) and ibanez rgt42dxfm. I started thinking of a tiny terror, but the lack of loop plus the price made me forget about it. I started looking to different brands and found Peavey Valveking 1x12 combo. I know that it is a cheap amplifier, but once it comes to Mexico it is not. Before economic crisis, with actual price, it could be the equivalent to 800 dolars, almost twice. It is affordable, but it costs some hard earned money.
I looked for B52 amps, as people say they are under rated and cheap, looked through their site and Mexico appears with international dealers, but page does no appear.
Should I stick with the peavey one or do you have any recomentadion?
I look for a versatile one, that has good cleans and can go for great distortion, not wanting to copy some one's tone but petrucci, lamb of god, nightwish and symphony x sure have some great sounds. I would like the loop, mainly to use amp's preamp and power amp but use my existent effects or use the boss preamp and amplifier's power stage (have created some tones that I like and the power stage tube warm helps to the digital tone)
Looking in the 30-50 watt range, if possible 2 speakers and under 600 bucks (also i need them to ship or have dealers in Mexico)

Re: New valve amp

Have you checked out the Peavey Classic? Much better amp than the Valveking for a few dollars more. I can also highly recommend the Genz Benz Black Pearl incredible tone and very versatile also switches between 7.5, 15 and 30 watts so you can get the tubes burning at lower volumes. Might be able to get one used?

Re: New valve amp

I agree to an extent with 'noize. The black pearl will still probably be out of your desired price range used, but going used wouldn't be a bad idea. You'll get a much better amp for less that way. The Classic 30 and 50 are great amps and I'd recommend them over the valveking. They won't give you that smooth liquid distortion on their own, but with your gt-8, you should be just fine.
I'd strongly recommend you go to a shop and play everything in it looking for what you like. If it's too expensive, save your money until you can afford it over getting a cheaper substitute. You'll be more satisfied in the long run.

Re: New valve amp

Thank you, the problem is that those amplifiers are not available, I may look for a used one, but for the ones in local retailers the valveking is the cheapest (although not really cheap) not many people buy valve amps in Mexico, I have seen a 5 watt laney,a 30 watt laney, orange amps, bugera and that specific valveking (asked for the 100 w version or the head but they didnt have it nor get it. The 5 watt laney costs almost the same as the valveking and the 30 watt one is more expensive. Looked for a mexican retailer at peavey's site but there isn't one, maybe the shop just buys 3 or 4 pieces and sells them so it is not an official retailer. Bugeras and some other boutique amps cost as much as orange amps, so out of my mind they will stay. I will go downtown and look for used ones or some amp bruoght from the US (many shops do that)

That's rough. Good luck and hopefully you'll find something that strikes your fancy and is within your budget.

Re: New valve amp

Have you looked at a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe? 45 watts and around 700 USD. Nice, nice amp.

Re: New valve amp

try out the laney. they are fantastic amps! that 5w (if it's the lionheart) supposedly is a really badass amp. and if the 30w is the lc30 II, then jump on it. i've got one and it's killer.

Re: New valve amp

Ok, i talked to a friend/teacher, who I got my guitar from (new) and send to setup. He told me that ever tuesday, people get together around a subway station and sell musical instruments, used. He told me that many times there are people who really need money and sell their gear really cheap. He once saw a Marshall jcm2000 for 4000 pesos, to this day, it would be like 307 dollars. Maybe I can get a good head and cab, but I mainly practice in my room and sometimes go out to gig, but I take my own equipment (pedal board, 2 guitars, amp, cables, everything)(I am 15 and by no means the best guitarist, so no rodies yet hehehe) so I dont think it would be a good idea to get a 100 watt half stack to gig 6-8 times a year, maybe more if a get a new band and just practice at home.
I am thinking about a combo, 50 watt, 100 is still a lot but a combo is easier to carry, so it could be an option. Hy teacher told me that many times I can get good theals on Marshalls as it is what they most have, but can look for other brands. Some model you recommend so I can look for it? (Peavey, soldano, Mesa (although he told me that he has just seen cabs) Lany or Vox,whatever you think I can get in the used market)

Re: New valve amp

Do Marshalls JCM come with active EQ? (I prefer active eqs as they provide more options for me)
