Noise & Hum... Help!

Hello,

I can't stand it anymore. Anyone give me some suggestions. Here is the thing I have on my rack:

-SansAmp PSA-1
-GMajor
-BBE 362NR
-Tech21 Power Engine60 Amp

I tried unplugged everything on that outlet (except those 4 above). When I use a high gain setting, there are lots of noise&hum. It is too much hum comparing to normal. I don't have power conditioner (that Furman thing) yet, but I use a very good surge protector, Belkin SurgeMaster Gold (they have noise reduction circuit also).

To solve this, I am thinking either:
1. Buy power conditioner.
2. Buy EbTech Hum Eliminator.

What do you think about this? Any suggestion would be great. I don't like to use a noise gate anyway. Thank you so much!!!

Is it just the pup's picking up the hum from the flourescent lighting? or maybe there are other electrical appliances causing it. have you tried moving your rig to another location?

I don't have fluorescent light in that room. The light I have is from the halogen lamp. I tried turn off the light already, but still hummm...

Is it possible that the hum&noise is from one module in the rack?

Have you tried removing one piece of gear at a time? That's the best way to isolate the culprit.

a dimmer switch, as well as flourescent lamps will cause hum. Bad wiring in your house, which is common, will also cuase hum (i'm living proof ).

Bring the gear someplace else and see if it still hums on somebody else's power.

Also, check the ground wires in your guitar - there's one soldered to the back of the trem claw, plus one or two from each pickup - make sure you haven't lost any connections.

good luck

Computer monitor can cause hum. Does the level of hum change when you walk across the room or rotate your guitar? Are you powering all your effects from the same power strip (that's the way it should be)?

To followup this issue, here it is:

I found that the main problem is the 1/4" output of my Sansamp PSA. When I connected it directly to the amp, it had the noise&hum. Since the PSA has XLR outputs, I ordered a couple balanced XLR cables and connected between anything possible.

The result was very impressive. The noise&hum now are almost gone! I don't think my cables are bad though (Fender ElectroVolt) coz I still use them for my stompboxes.

Many Thanks guys!!!
