Now which pedal??

Ok i have a 40w tube amp and a guitar with EMG's... i have a Metal Muff and an MXR 6-Band EQ... I am not worried about effects to much right now just distortion and overdrive...

I was looking at the DOD YJM308, Zakk Wylde O/D pedal, EH Muff overdrive nano and the EH Line Boost pedals.. Maybe both the EH's???

Just want to push the front of the amp more and try to keep from losing to much volume through the pedals... Mostly playing heavy metal....

Whats my best bet for dirt pedals.. gotta stay under $100

The Zakk pedal sounds really good. Very Marshall like. The only down side is that it's a bit noisy.

Seconded on the ZW, very natural-sounding. EHX LBP is supposed to be a good clean boost as well.

I wouldn't go near the Nano Muff (or any of its big brothers) if you're playing metal, it's got a very unique character and it doesn't always play nicely with other sources of OD/distortion.

If you can find one, the original Marshall Guv'nor is a great OD pedal.

Save up just a LITTLE more and get a Fulltone OCD.. trust me. They just dropped in price. At 130 bucks they completely obliterate all other overdrives in that price range.

Re: Now which pedal??

Hey,

I have owend the YJM308, and I must say that it is NOT recomendable for anything - at least not to my ears. It is very noisy too.

I currently use an EHX Metal Muff like you. I can really recommend putting a Boss SD-1 in front of it and putting both on medium gain, it adds wonderful attack. Generally, most distortions sound better with an SD-1 in front of them, at least if you are into metal.
